IndiGo has increased its fuel surcharge for the third time since the conflict in West Asia raised aviation turbine fuel (ATF) prices, with the revised charge applicable to bookings made from 0001 hours on 6 October 2026.

The airline said on Monday that ATF prices remained volatile due to heightened geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, with the latest month-on-month gain exceeding 14%. Fuel costs are now among the highest in a decade, IndiGo said, adding that ATF accounts for a significant share of its operating costs.

IndiGo said the latest increase is only a partial pass-through of higher fuel costs. According to her, full passage would require a significantly steeper rise. The airline described the revision as a “measured and relatively mild” adjustment.

The revised surcharge ranges from ₹ 375 to ₹ 1,300 for domestic flights depending on the distance. For journeys up to 500 km, the fee has been increased to ₹375 from ₹275 under the plan introduced in April. Flights between 501 km and 1,000 km will attract ₹600 against ₹400 earlier, while the charge for 1,001-1,500 km will increase to ₹900 from ₹600.

For flights between 1,501-2,000 km, the surcharge increases to ₹1,150 from ₹800, while journeys above 2,000 km will attract ₹1,300, up from ₹950.

The April schedule itself replaced a flat domestic fuel surcharge introduced in March and underlined the rapid escalation of fuel price pressures on airlines.

International surcharges have also been revised. The charge for SAARC destinations has been increased to ₹1,000 and ₹3,000 in the respective distance bands from the earlier ₹900 and ₹2,500. IndiGo has also consolidated several international categories, with Southeast Asia, GCC countries and the Middle East and North and East Asia now attracting a flat ₹5,500, compared to stand-alone rates ranging from ₹3,000 to ₹5,000 in April.

The surcharge for flights to Africa has been increased to ₹6,000 from ₹5,000, while the charge for Europe remains unchanged at ₹10,000.

IndiGo added that it will continue to monitor fuel prices and review the surcharge as market conditions evolve.
