Kannan CS Warrier, Director, Kerala Forest Research Institute, has received the Editor of Distinction Award 2026 from Springer Nature, one of the world’s prestigious scientific, technical and medical publishers.
The award celebrates the hard work, dedication and leadership of editors in raising the standards and quality of the journal. Dr. Warrier serves as Associate Editor of Agroforestry Systems, a journal published by Springer Nature and ranked among the top 10 forestry research journals worldwide.
This journal has 66 editors from 32 countries and only five are from India.
Dr. Warrier is also the recipient of two national awards – the National Award for Excellence in Forestry Research (for pioneering research in the release of three salt-tolerant Casuarina clones) and the Rolla S. Rao National Award for Best Biodiversity Conservation Research in India (a comprehensive study on the sacred groves of Alappuzha district, Kerala).
His VIDWAN score, assessed by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, for contributions in the field of forestry is 10/10. Ministry of Education recognizes VIDWAN as the leading database of scholar profiles in India.
