A fire breaks out when scrap metal falls

A private scrap metal yard near Government Taluk Hospital in Ambur town was gutted on Sunday after a fire broke out in the facility and destroyed goods worth ₹7 crore.
Police said it was around noon when residents noticed thick smoke coming from the godown run by Mohammed Abbas, 58, a resident of Ambur town. They tried to put out the fire, but it spread to the whole earth.
After the notification, firefighters from the city of Ambur arrived at the scene and extinguished the fire.
The case was registered by the Ambur city police. Police said an electrical short could have been the cause of the accident. A probe is underway.
