On Sunday, a ship from Kerala was confiscated in the waters of thoothuku for illegal entry and fishing during the ongoing ban.
According to the Act on the Regulation of Maritime Fishing Tamil Nadu from 1983, a 61 -day period of ban on fishing for the protection of the breeding season along the Tamil coast from 14 April to the 15th June was carried out every year. The prohibition applies to all mechanized ships across Tamil Nadu.
While fishermen in Tamil Nadu strictly followed the regulations, the complaints continued against the fishermen of Kerala, who illegally entered the water waters of Tamil Nadu, especially in the area of Thothuku, have always been a huge complaint from the fishing community.
This year, local fishermen also filed their petition with collector K. Eambahavath, who urged a lawsuit against such a violation. Mr. Eambahavath, who acted on the complaint, ordered the department of fishing and a coastal security group to carry out a patrol in the waters of thoothuku and take steps against illegal participants.
In accordance with the fishing department, together with the Coast Security Police group, the ship from Kerala confiscated the charging of the rules for the fishing ban. The ship was confiscated about 42 naval miles from Toothukuku coast with 17 fishermen on board. The ship was further brought back to the port of thoothuku Fishing and was banned from other operations.
In particular, this denotes a third ship confiscated in the water of thoothuku in just two days as a violation of the ban on fishing.
