Congress on Sunday (May 18, 2025) said that no one would prevent them from being part of diplomatic delegations to be sent to different countries after the Sindoor Operation, and that its leaders who have been named in the event of the government must listen to their conscience and contribute to exercise.
The Secretary General of the Congress responsible for Communication Jairam Ramesh accused the government of politicizing the performance of the leaders of the leaders for delegations and the “harmful intention”, with only one of the four congress leaders nominated the party.
On Saturday (May 17, 2025) Congress said that the government had asked to submit the names of four leaders so that the delegations of all parties were sent abroad to explain the Indian attitude to Pakistani terrorism. This was nominated by Anand Sharma, Gaurav Gogoi, Syed NASEER Hussain and Amrinder Singh Raja Warring.
Of the four to seven delegations that will visit different countries, only Mr. Sharma.
Four Congress leaders – Shashi Tharoor, Manish Tewari, Amar Singh and Salman Khurshid – who were not part of the list handed over by Congress, were included in the delegations.
“National Interest Paramount”
“They included only one leader of the four names we sent. The government added four more names that are higher deputies and leaders of our party. They should listen to their conscience and contribute to delegations,” Ramesh PTI said.
“For Congress, the national interest is paramount. This matter should not be stretched and more politicization is not appropriate in this respect,” he said.
Congress did not stop anyone, and all parties named in delegations would go and contribute, he said.
The selection of Mr. Tharoor, who led one of the delegations, was frown with a congress that accused the government of playing politics with “mischievous” thinking.
Mr. Ramesh, referring to the inclusion of Mr. Salman Khurshid, said the four names added by the government included a former Foreign Minister who had experience with foreign policy.
“Cheap Political Games”
In yesterday’s statement, Mr. Ramesh said, “May 16 in the morning, the government asked the government for four names/leaders of the congress to represent the congress in delegations that were sent abroad to explain Indian attitude to Terrorism from Pakistan.”
These four names were communicated in writing by the leader of the opposition in Lok Sabha in Rahul Gandhi Minister Kiren Rijiju by 12:00 on 16 May, he said in a statement.
“Very late this evening (May 17) was officially released a complete list of members of all delegations. Unfortunately, only one of the four names proposed by Inc.,” he said.
“This demonstrates the complete sincerity of the government of Modi and shows cheap political games that always play in serious national issues,” Ramesh said.
Of course, four prominent MPs/leaders of Congress who were included in the Modi government would go with delegations and contribute, he said.
“Congress will not bend to the sloping level of PM and BJP. It will always follow the best traditions of parliamentary democracy and will not play guerrilla policy on national security issues such as BJP,” Ramesh said.
He added that Congress wanted the delegation all the best.
Mr. Ramesh said that these delegations should not distract from the requirements of the congress to the meeting of all parties to the PM and the special session of parliament to repeat the resolution adopted on February 22, 1994, and at the same time take acknowledged development.
