The authorities were warning in the districts of Kurnool and Anantapore after the separation of Met in the coming days predicted heavy rains.
The collector of the district district of Kurnool P. Ranjth Basha on Sunday ordered officials to maintain vigil to avoid any loss of property or life and continuously follow the situation. The administration set up a control room in the district collector and asked people to contact 08518-277305 for any help or information transfer.
Mr. Basha urged people not to stay in open areas or under trees during heavy rains, because there is a possibility of lightning strikes and asked farmers working in fields and cattle and grazing sheep to hide under the buildings.
The collector of the anantapur district of Dr. Vinod Kumar urged people to go only in emergency situations. He said that several streams, lakes and rivulet were on the verge of overflowing with regard to continuous rain since the last few days. He asked people not to exceed these water formations and not travel on the roads during heavy rains.
Mr. Kumar asked people living near Tadakaler, Pandamer, Penny, Hagari (Vedavathi), Chitravathi, Kutaler, UPPu Vanka and other water bodies to be in high readiness. According to the collector, the total capacity is 146 small irrigation tanks in the district of 2,985 MCFT. On Saturday, 20%were fulfilled on their capacity, another 20 tanks were completed by 75%, 43 tanks were filled up to 50%and 63 tanks filled by 25%.
