Protest against CEC Gyanesh Kumar: AISA President Neha released at Narela Industrial Area Police Station
Street anarchy cannot hijack democracy: BJP seeks to expose opposition claims on SIR
Amid protests against the SIR and alleged “vote theft”, the BJP on Sunday (October 4, 2026) said the names of 13 million voters were not deleted as claimed by the Congress, but marked in the draft voter list under the categories of dead, absent, shifted or duplicate.
The “final action” in the matter follows allegations, objections and appeals, the ruling party said on X from its official handle, while releasing a “point-by-point breakdown of the allegations and facts behind” the Special Intensive Review of Electoral Rolls and accused the Congress of waging a “campaign of fear” against the SIR.
The BJP refuted the opposition’s other claims, saying that Form 6 has not been changed and that an additional statement has been attached for the convenience of voters.
“Thirteen million names have not been deleted. They have been flagged in the draft as dead, absent, moved or duplicated. The latest action follows claims, objections and appeals,” it said.
“Form 6 has not been changed. An additional statement has been attached for the convenience of voters. The electoral rolls remain decentralized and the state election machinery retains statutory powers,” he added. — PTI
