Dentist fired after joining protest against minister in Kerala

DYFI workers recently attacked a car carrying Minister OJ Janeesh at Taliparamba in Kannur.

A dentist temporarily working at the Kanhangad District Hospital under the National Health Mission has been suspended after he participated in a black flag protest organized by the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) against Sports Minister OJ Janeesh in Kanhangad.

Dr. Sidharth Ravindran was dismissed after the authorities concluded that his participation in a political protest violated the terms of the agreement he signed upon joining the service.

Case registered

The incident took place on Thursday when Mr Janeesh had arrived in Kasaragod district to attend various programmes. DYFI organized a black flag protest against the minister in Kanhangad which was also attended by Dr. Ravindran. Subsequently, photographs emerged of a doctor participating in the protest by waving a black flag at the minister’s vehicle. In connection with the protest, the Hosdur police registered a case against Dr. to Siddharth. Youth Congress activists also filed a complaint with the health ministry along with photographs showing the doctor’s participation in the protest. After filing a complaint, proceedings were initiated against him.

The dismissal order allegedly stated a violation of the terms of the agreement signed by Dr. Sidharth with the District Health and Family Welfare Society at the time of his appointment. According to the health authorities, the basis of the action was participation in a political protest contrary to the terms of the agreement.
