Hyderabad court sentences car driver to 20 years in POCSO case

A 46-year-old man, earlier arrested for sexually assaulting a minor girl, was on Wednesday (May 27, 2026) sentenced to 20 years’ rigorous imprisonment by the Fast Track Special POCSO court in Rajendranagar, Hyderabad. The court fined the accused ₹50,000 and announced a compensation of ₹3,000 to the victim.

The accused has been identified as Syed Yousuf, an auto driver and a resident of Chandrayangutta. The incident was reported on 24 October 2020 when the victim, a four-year-old girl, was playing with her sister outside her residence in Rajendranagar. The accused, who was driving the car, took the children around the place before returning them home. The victim later disclosed to her mother that the accused assaulted her.

The mother noticed the injury and bleeding and immediately lodged a complaint at the Rajendranagar police station.

Officials said the Bharosa center provided round-the-clock counseling and emotional support to the victim and her family during the investigation and trial.
