
The Association of Agricultural Farmers Andr Pradesh demanded that the state government to ensure that tenants be available to high -quality seeds, as the Kharif season will start in the first week of June.
In Sunday’s statement, the President of the Association A. Katamaiah and the Secretary General P. Jamalaiah demanded that the state government immediately announce the culture action plan and ensure the availability of certified quality seeds for all required crops. Private seed companies have excessively increased prices for profit and in many districts, in the last season Kharif, these companies sold non -standard and adulterated seeds, deceived farmers, they said.
They urged the agricultural department to carry out the inspections of agencies and private seeds and take strict steps to prevent the circulation of false seeds. It is necessary to take legal action against companies and owners of shops who cheat farmers by producing and selling falsified seeds. If necessary, they required the Act on the prevention of dangerous activities (PD Act) to restrict this threat, they said.
According to estimates of agriculture department, about 85.65 acres are grown in the state every year. This is 34.75 lakh acres of paddy, 14.80 lakh acres of ground lubrication, 14.67 lakh acres cotton, 9 lakh acres pulses and the rest is corn, green gram, black gram and other crops. The government usually prepares seed reserves on the basis of these estimates.
