Congress nominates candidates for 3 Maharashtra MLC seats

The Congress has announced its candidates for three constituencies for the upcoming Maharashtra Legislative Council elections. The two-day polling for five vacant seats — three graduates (Aurangabad, Pune and Nagpur) and two teachers (Amravati and Pune) — is scheduled for October 23.
In Friday’s release, the party named candidates for one graduate position and two teacher positions. The party has renominated MLC Abhijit Wanjari to the post of graduates of Nagpur division and member Jayant Dinkar Asagaonkar to the post of teachers of Pune division. Newcomer Aditi Pohare was built from Amravati headquarters.
The date for filing nominations is October 6 and the withdrawal date is October 9.
Earlier this week, Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) announced the plan to contest the polls in a meeting attended by Congress leader Naseem Khan, NCP (SP) leaders Shashikant Shinde and Harshwardhan Patil and Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut. Khan said interviews were held for Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Graduate Constituency, Pune Graduate Constituency and Amravati Teacher Constituency.
NCP’s Satish Chavan from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Graduate Constituency, NCP’s Arun Lad (SP) from Pune Graduate Constituency and Shiv Sena’s Kiran Sarnaik from Amravati Teacher Constituency are retiring on December 6.
