CPI(M) district committee meeting begins in Ponnani

An extended meeting of the CPI(M) district committee began in Ponnani on Saturday (October 3) with Leader of the Opposition and party politburo member Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurating the two-day session.
The meeting is aimed at strengthening the party’s work among the people and planning organizational activities in response to current political conditions.
Senior leader Paloli Mohammedkutty hoisted the party flag at RV Palace Auditorium, Chamravattom. After the opening session, the organizational report was presented by the district secretary VP Anil.
A general discussion on the report started after the panel discussions and will continue on Sunday (October 4). The meeting ends after management has responded to the issues raised.

CPI(M) central committee members PK Sreemathy, EP Jayarajan, KK Shailaja and CS Sujatha and state secretariat members M. Swaraj and V. Sivankutty are participating.
The meeting has 135 participants, including 42 members of the district committee, 54 representatives from 18 regional committees and 29 representatives of mass organizations.
Sunday’s program will conclude with a parade and public meeting. The procession will start at 4.30 pm from CV Junction near Ponnani Port and end at Nilayorapatha.
About 50,000 people from seven coastal area committees are expected to attend. Mr. Vijayan will inaugurate the public meeting.
