Mogadiše: At least 10 people were killed on Sunday after a suicide bomber focused on the queue of young recruits registering at the Damanyo military base in the Somali capital of Mogadish, agencies agencies said.
Teenagers stood at the base of the base as the attacker detonated his explosives, they said.

The military captain, who gave his name as Suleiman, described the attack as he saw how he was developing.
“I was on the other side of the road. Truk-tuk stopped, the man got out, hit the queue and then fired into the air. I saw 10 people dead, including recruits and passers-by.
Dozens of abandoned shoes and remnants of a suicide bomber were visible on the scene.
Another witness, Abdisalan Muhammad, said he saw “hundreds of teenagers at the gate as we walked on the bus”.
“Suddenly there was a deafening explosion and the area was covered with thick smoke. We have not seen the details of the victims,” he said.
Medical staff in Military Hospital told Reuters that they had received 30 injured people from the explosion and that six of them had died immediately.
Government forces quickly ended the whole area.
There was no immediate entitlement to the responsibility for the attack, and government officials could not be immediately addressed.
The attack reflected a similar incident in 2023, when a suicide bomber killed 25 soldiers at the base of Jale Siyad, located opposite Damanyo.
The Sunday attack followed by the assassination on Saturday Colonel Abdirahmaan Hujaale, Battalion Commander 26, in the Hii-region, in the middle of local reports militant al-Shabaab infiltration into government and security forces.
