A high-level trade delegation from the Republic of Korea met Priyank Kharg, Minister of Home Affairs, Information Technology, Biotechnology and e-Governance here on Saturday to explore opportunities for investment, trade expansion and technology partnerships between Korea and Karnataka.
Discussions focused on strengthening trade ties between Korea and Karnataka and creating practical avenues for Korean companies and investors to enter and expand into the Indian market through Karnataka.
The delegation noted that while Indian businesses and the country’s growth potential are increasingly attracting attention, Korean investors would benefit from stronger institutional ties and greater awareness of potential partners and opportunities in Karnataka and India.
Referring to the popularity of K-pop, K-dramas, Korean cosmetics and other Korean products in India, Mr Kharge noted how quickly global products, services and cultural influences have adapted to the Indian market. “We have the talent, innovation ecosystem, research capabilities and market access platforms to support companies across sectors,” he said.
“We would like to move from a broad interest to a focused set of opportunities that can be realized and implemented on the ground,” the minister added.
He also offered the delegation an insight into the state’s deep technology ecosystem, its network of centers of excellence, incubators and innovation institutions across fields including artificial intelligence, semiconductors, fintech, agritech, life sciences, aerospace, space and robotics. Mr. Kharge invited the Korean delegation to identify specific sectors and opportunities of interest and offered to cooperate on a targeted plan.
The Korean delegation consisted of senior representatives from DSC Investment, GS Ventures, CJ CheilJedang, CJ Investment, Capstone Partners and GTGO Inc. (GOPIZZA) and others. The event brought together investors, venture capitalists and business leaders exploring opportunities across technology, food and beverage, retail, start-ups and other emerging sectors.
