FC head coach Barcelona Hansi Flick warned Barcelona players not to talk against Villarreal in his final match against Villarreal. Barcelona defeated Espanyola in their last league game to win the title Laliga, which sent players to wild celebrations.
Barcelona players celebrated 28. The LALIGA club title with thousands of fans on Friday 15th May in the procession of winning an open bus victory, but coach Hans Flick quickly reminded them that the season was not over.
In his first season, the German coach led Barcelona to the Copa del Rey League and the Spanish Super Cup. When he spoke before the match, he said he needed his players to focus on completing a high -level campaign.
“Yesterday there was a day of celebration and rest. Many players came out at a party, but anyone can party, it can work, it’s not an excuse. I want to finish the season when we started it,” Flick told reporters on Saturday, the day before Villarreal.
“It’s the last time we play at home and want to win. We want to end the season as champions. In 2025 we didn’t lose (in the league) and want to keep it.”
Flick said he was amazed by the passion of supporters during the celebrations.
“It was unbelievable to see the faces, the passion of people as celebrated. It was fantastic to see,” the coach said.
“Celebration year after year would be amazing. Maybe we can do it next year. We’ll work for it. It’s everyone’s title.”
The coach said the laliga champions would not make a mistake, that they had taken Villarreal lightly, promoting the Champions League. Villarreal won his last four games and defeated Espanyol, Osasun, Giron and Leganes.
“We play against great teams and Villarreal has done a fantastic work, won their last four games. You see the hand of your coach and have key players,” he added.
Asked if he could start with 11 home players on Sunday, Flick said that the idea was discussed in the club.
“To be honest, we talked about it internally, but we didn’t decide. It could be. We’ll wait for the team to see tomorrow,” he concluded.
