Four people, including two children, were killed and more than 15 others suffered serious injuries in a traffic accident on the National Motorway Karur-Salem near Semmadai in the Karur district on early Saturday (May 17, 2025).
According to police sources, a private luxury bus passengers from Salem to Karur, he thrust a tractor before climbing to the middle median. The bus then turned and collided with a tourist van coming from the opposite direction, resulting in a pile.
The accident occurred around 5:00 staff of fire and rescue services from Karur, along with Vangal Police, rushed to the place and started rescue operations. Several passengers were trapped inside the mangled vehicles and was released.
Four people were announced on the spot, including two minors. Passengers are currently injured in Government Medical College Hospital in Karur, while several others were admitted to private hospitals in the district. The body of the deceased was sent to the hospital morgue for postmortem examination.
The police registered the case and investigated the cause of the accident.
