Several press bodies on Friday (May 16, 2025) expressed concern about the arrest of Bahubali Shah, the owner of Gujarat Samachar, the Directorate for the enforcement of the right that stated that this step “reflects the disturbing attack on the freedom of press and democratic value”.
In a joint statement, the Indian press club, the Indian female press commission, the press association, the Delhi Union of journalists, the Union of the working journalists and the work association of cameramen entitled “for immediate release of the owner, unless the evidence is submitted in a transparent way”.
“The respected publication with long -term heritage of independent journalism, Gujarat Samachar was a voice for Gujarat residents and a voice. They again said that the arrest of ED raises questions about state machine abuse to torture media houses and suppress disagreement,” they said.
“Repeated ED and Allied Agencies Agencies are sure to undermine the basic principles of democracy enshrined in the Constitution and erode public confidence in institutions. We require maximum transparency relating to the accusation and ask the authorities to ensure proper process, justice and observance of the law.”
“The media play a critical role in holding power to billing, but rather in functional democracy. The hunters of the witch of media and media persons would continue to defend the government to protect the independence of the press in the interests of robust democracy. We also call on the owner immediate release.
