Former chief minister and BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik on Friday (Oct 2, 2026) slammed the Mohan Charan Majhi government, terming it the epitome of mismanagement and inefficiency.

“This government has failed to manage even a single Rath Yatra properly. Mismanagement in flood relief, mismanagement in paddy acquisition, mismanagement in recruitment exams, mismanagement in financial management. This government has failed in every task. People say Odisha BJP government may have acquired special expertise in mismanagement,” Mr. Patnaik said.

“There are no textbooks for children. No pensions for the elderly. Farmers are in trouble. Mothers are in trouble. There is no law and order. Failure everywhere and mismanagement everywhere,” he wrote on X.

“The central government has taken away the rights of Odisha residents to mines and Odisha government is silent. 20 BJP MPs are silent for Odisha residents. But they are ready to fight for mine owners. It is good not to talk about textbooks for children. Thousands of mistakes. But this government is reluctant to take responsibility,” said Mr. Patnaik.

“Revenue collection is falling in Odisha. Budget expenditure cannot be spent. No work is being done. Yet the debt burden is increasing. Where is this money going?” he asked.

The BJD on Friday (October 2, 2026) launched ‘Jan Sampark Padayatra’, its annual month-long public awareness program on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary. Speaking about the launch of the public assistance scheme, Mr. Patnaik said that Odisha is going through a tough time at present.
