
The co -owner Gujarat Samachar Bahubali Shah was detained on Friday by the Directorate for Pravo (ED), which is a step criticized by opposition parties, including Congress and AAM Admi.
The leader of the Congress and the leader of the opposition of Lok Sabha (LOP) Rahul Gandhi on Friday described the detention as “conspiracy to suppress the voice of the whole democracy”. He added that the country would not follow the bars or fear, but the truth and the constitution.
Bahubali Shah was detained on Friday, the day after Ed made air raids in places associated with him in Ahmedabad.
While Ed did not reveal the reasons for his detention, the media reports claimed that the federal agency had accused him of “washing money”. Livemint could not verify the messages separately.
Tushar Dave, head of digital services in GVV, Gujarati news channel, owned by Shah’s Brother, said Ed was holding Bahubali Shah on the first Friday.
In the Facebook post, Dave revealed that Shah was first transported to the VS ED hospital and then when he was admitted to the Zydus hospital in the city after his health was getting worse.

Who is Bahubali Shah?
Bahubali Shah, 73, is the older son of Shantilalbhai Shah, who is the founding editor of Gujarat Samachar-92-year-old newspaper, which in most households Gujarati became the foundation.
Gujarat Samachar was founded in 1932, operating Lok Prakashan Ltd, whose founding fathers include Sardar VallaBhbhai Patel and Morarjee Desai. Twenty years later, the company acquired Shantilalbhai Shah, whose family owns a 71.92 % stake in the company, according to the website of Lok Prakashan.
Lok Prakashan, the publisher of the article, is owned by the sons of the Sons of Shantilalbhai Shah Bahubali and Shreyans Shah Shaho Shahi Shah and his brother -in -law Smrutiben Shreyans Shah. The family also owns Gujarat Samachar, which was launched in 2012.
Bahubali Shah is one of the directors of Lok Prakashan and is responsible for the newspaper and his channel of the Gstvo sister. Shreyans Shah is the head of the editor Gujarat Samachar.
Bahubali Shah holds 22.79 % direct share in Gujarat Samachar.
What did Rahul Gandhi say?
On Friday X post came the leader of the congress Rahul Gandhi to support Bahubali Shah.
“The country will not drive either sticks or fear – India will drive the truth and constitution,” he said.
The opposition leader in Lok Sabha noted that the closure of newspapers that consider those that are responsible in power testify to democracy in danger. The detainment of Bahajbali reveals that the “policy of fear” has become the identity of Narendra Modi’s government, he added.

“An attempt to silence Gujarat Samachar is another plot to suppress the voice not only from one newspaper but from all democracy. When a newspaper is closed, understand that democracy is in danger,” Gandhi said.
“Bahubali Shah is part of the same policy of fear that has now become the identity of Modi’s government,” he added.
