The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned Kadapa MP YS Avinash Reddy to appear before its investigating officers on October 14 in its money laundering case related to the 2019 murder of former minister YS Vivekananda Reddy.
Mr. Avinash Reddy is accused No. 8 in the murder case.
ED officials probing money laundering and financial transactions in the killing have questioned Yerra Gangi Reddy, Umashankar Reddy, Sunil Yadav and other accused in the murder case.
It was alleged that millions of rupees were paid to the accused for the murder, and the ED is investigating the case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002.
Case
Vivekananda Reddy, brother of former Chief Minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy and uncle of former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, was found dead at his residence in Pulivendula in Kadapa district in March 2019, weeks before the general elections. His death was initially described as a heart attack. The CBI took over the investigation in 2020 after his daughter Suneetha Narreddy asked for an independent probe and the Supreme Court later shifted the trial to Telangana.
