KM-1 captured in the Aralam rehabilitation area
The Keralam Forest department tranquilized and captured Kannur Makhna-1 (KM-1), a male elephant in the Aralam rehabilitation area and loaded the animal on a transport vehicle at around 6 pm on Thursday with the help of kumki elephants for shifting to Muthanga in Wayanad.
According to Divisional Forest Officer K. Saji, the elephant was shot earlier in the day and after it was subdued, a path was cleared to the animal using an earthmoving machine to facilitate its movement on the road and loading on a vehicle.
Officials said the animal would be shifted to Muthanga, where a kraal had been made, on Thursday evening.
