‘Red Run’ Marathon organized in Bagalkot to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS

The Red Run Marathon, a five kilometer run, was held in Bagalkot on Wednesday to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS.
SC Patil, District Leprosy Control Officer flagged off the district level run for college students in front of the District Administration Complex.
A total of 98 students between the ages of 17 and 25 from various degrees and vocational colleges from the entire district took part in the marathon.
Prateek Deganvi, Abubakar Kadabi and Ajit Damadi secured the top positions among men, while Meenakshi Chalavannavar, Sushmita Sulikeri and Sunita Prakash Gundali won prizes among women.
The students who secured the first position at the district level qualified for the national marathon. The district-level winners were awarded cash prizes – ₹5,000 for first place, ₹3,500 for second place and ₹2,500 for third place – along with certificates of merit.
Karnataka State AIDS Prevention Society, District Administration, Zilla Panchayat, District Health and Family Welfare Department, District AIDS Prevention and Control Unit, District Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports, and BVVS Basaveshwara College of Physical Education jointly organized it.
Health Ministry staff including MB Ballari, MR Kamble, BL Hosalli, Srikanth Hadalageri, Geetha Kamble, MH Subedar, Neelakantha Neelanayaka and Siddanagouda Goudar and others were present.
