IND vs WI: Prasidh Krishna misses third ODI, Naman Dhir replaces Sundar for T20Is

Fast bowler Prasidh Krishna has been ruled out of the third and final ODI against West Indies after suffering a left hamstring injury during the second match in Guwahati. The BCCI selection committee named Anshul Kamboj as his replacement for Saturday’s match in New Chandigarh.

Prasidh suffered the injury during the second ODI on Wednesday. He bowled just five overs and finished with figures of 1/45 as West Indies posted 405/7, their highest total of the series. Chasing down the target in 43.3 overs with eight wickets in hand, India took an elusive 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

Prasidh will now proceed to the BCCI Center of Excellence in Bengaluru for rehabilitation.

Kamboj, who is currently playing for India A in the unofficial Test series against Australia A in Puducherry, will join the Indian team in Chandigarh. He bowled 17.3 overs and took three wickets in the first innings of the ongoing four-day match. He bowled only two overs in the second innings before being released to the senior team following Prasidha’s injury.

Kamboj made his test debut in Manchester last year but is yet to be dominated by India in either of the two white-ball formats. He will now get an opportunity to make his ODI debut against the West Indies.

Meanwhile, Washington Sundar has been withdrawn from India’s squad for the upcoming five-match T20I series against the West Indies, with Naman Dhir named as his replacement.

The decision was taken in view of India’s upcoming two-Test series against New Zealand. With the Ranji Trophy season starting on October 11, Washington will get an opportunity to play red-ball cricket for Tamil Nadu to prepare for the Test series.

The first Test against New Zealand begins in Wellington on November 19. The selectors want Washington to get red-ball cricket under their belts ahead of the two-Test series.

Washington is currently representing India at the Asian Games in Japan but has now been withdrawn from the West Indies T20I series.

Meanwhile, Naman Dhir recently made his ODI debut against West Indies in Trivandrum and is yet to make his T20I international debut. In 61 T20 matches, he scored 1,222 runs at a strike rate of 156.26 and also took eight wickets at an economy rate of 9.40.

Dhir appeared in all 14 matches for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2026, scoring 318 runs at a strike rate of 147.22, including two half-centuries.

The five-match T20I series against West Indies begins in Lucknow on October 6.
