On Tuesday (May 13, 2025), the Prime Minister of Narendra Modi (May 13, 2025) emphasized the importance of targeted interventions and technologically conducted in the fight against tuberculosis and, during his official stay, chaired a high -level audit meeting.
The Prime Minister emphasized the need to analyze TB patients based on urban rural differences and professional categories. “This will help identify vulnerable groups requiring early testing and treatment, especially staff in construction, mining, textiles and other high -risk sectors,” Modi said.
The Prime Minister, who emphasized the curation of TB with regular treatment, said that the public must be more informed, with less fear and greater support. He called NiShay Mitra – volunteers who support TB patients to use digital platforms and interactive technologies to effectively involve patients.
He reiterated the role of public participation (Jan Bhagidari) and purity in the elimination strategy and stressed that it is important to ensure that every patient is a continuous treatment.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister reviewed the encouraging data from the global report of the TB of the World Health Organization 2024, which reports an 18% reduction in the incidence of TB in India – from 237 to 195 to the Lakh population between 2015 and 2023 – double global pace. TB mortality in India has fallen by 21%and the treatment coverage increased to 85%.
Officials also submitted key updates to NTEP infrastructure improvements, including the expansion of the TB diagnostic network to 8 540 Naat laboratories (testing of nucleic acid amplification) and 87 laboratories for testing culture and drug sensitivity. The current diagnostic infrastructure includes more than 26,700 X -ray units, with 500 500 AM pocket devices and an additional 1,000 in the pipeline.
TB decentralization – free screening, diagnostics, treatment and nutritional support – through Ayushman arrogya Mandirs was emphasized as the cornerstone of the program reach.
New initiatives introduced in recent months include shorter drug regimes for drug resistant, indigenous molecular diagnostics, nutritional interventions and screening in high -risk congregated environments such as mines, urban slums and tea gardens. Since 2018, Ni-Kshay Poshan Yojana has been facilitated by a direct transfer of benefits to 1.28 patients with TB Crore, with an incentive amount raised to 1,000 ₹ in 2024.

The meeting was also reviewed by a 100-day TB TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, which projected 12.97 crore individuals in high focus districts, resulting in a detection of 7.19 Lakh TB cases-including 2,85 lakh asymptomatic patients. More than 1 lakh new NiShay Mitra joined the effort during the campaign.
At the meeting were the Minister of Health Jagat Prakash Nadda, the main secretary of Prime Minister Dr. PK Mishhra and other higher officials.
