DKS dismisses Kumaraswamy’s allegations as ‘pack of lies’

Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Tuesday refuted allegations made by Industries and Steel Minister HD Kumaraswamy regarding the Bengaluru-Mysuru Infrastructure Corridor Project (BMICP) as “lies”, while refusing to respond to specific allegations.

“Why did he remain silent for so many days? The agreement was signed by his father (former prime minister HD Deve gowda). He (Mr Kumaraswamy) was also the chief minister. All he said is a series of lies. I have nothing to do with it,” the chief minister told reporters in Delhi.

He further said, “I will not answer or press charges. I have no time for that. I will not be intimidated by such threats. I have seen this extortion and drama. He is unable to digest the popularity of our government. He tapped the phones of late Balagangadhar Swamiji and Nirmalananda Swamiji (Muri seer? Ittchunchang). Desperation.” He said the NICE project would be suitable for Chennapatna, Ramanagara and Mysuru.

Responding to Mr Kumaraswamy’s claim on the growth of his wealth, the Chief Minister said, “Yes. I have a property worth ₹1,400 crore in current value. I have declared it before IT. I am the son of a farmer and a businessman. Shouldn’t I buy properties? My children can buy more properties and they have the capacity and the law has more right to do so.”

Giving an example of a site allotted to him by former chief minister late S. Bangarappa, he said, “I paid ₹99,000 and it is now worth about ₹20 crore. The value of my properties has gone up. What’s wrong with that? I have hundreds of such properties. I have declared it every year.”

Responding to another allegation by Mr Kumaraswamy on the 10-acre plot near Hoskerehalli, from which the Chief Minister’s brother DK Suresh allegedly made an estimated fortune of ₹2,000 crore by entering into a joint development deal with Sobha Developers, Mr Shivakumar said: “What is wrong with a scan or corruption?”

Responding to a call for an open debate on the grand steps of the Vidhana Soudha by the former, the Chief Minister asked the Union Minister to come to the assembly for a discussion.
