A passenger woman suffered a head injury after the middle anchoring of the coach of the sleeping class while slept. The incident occurred on train no. 22651 Chennai-Palakkad Express shortly after Jolarpet exceeded Monday. The victim’s husband claimed that the railway authorities did not provide first aid for more than an hour until the train had reached Salem where the ambulance was organized.
According to Suria Mirurugan Railways (39) from Chennai, she slept on the berth. 1 (lower bed), when it suddenly fell on an unoccupied medium anchorage around 1.15 hours, the other passengers pointed out their husband Jyothi Jayashankar, who slept in another coach. When he saw Mrs. Suria bleeding with his head injury, he sought medical assistance from the examiner (TTE) and other railway staff on the train.
“There was no first aid set.
On arrival at Salem around 2 pm, ambulance rescuers performed basic dressing and moved Mrs. Surii to the government hospital. “Later we took the authorickshaw and went to a private hospital and confessed there. My wife had a deep cut on his forehead and underwent stitches. There was no help from the railway. It is shocking that a train with about 1,000 passengers has no rescuers or first aid,” he said.
Railway sources reported that the chain and blocking mechanism of the middle bed was found normal when controlled at Dindigul Junction. The coach was allowed to go through the service without any change. The periodic overhaul of the Sleeper Class Class coach, made in 2005, was carried out on 16 March this year in Chennai.
The railroad accuses passengers
Asked about the circumstances that led to the incident, Southern Railway spokesman M. Senthamil Selvan said that “the bed could have fallen due to incorrect blockage of the berth by the passenger”. The coach was 19 years old and suitable for operation. A total of 154 rakes of the proposed ICF were operated in the zone and in three years it would become a complete migration at LHB Rrakes, he said.
On Monday evening, the main public contact officer said that medical assistance was immediately organized by commercial and medical control staff, but the passenger refused to perform in Marappur. “It seems that the unfortunate incident occurred as a result of incorrect handling of the passenger chain connection, which is a designated locking mechanism for the middle berth,” CPro said.
