Workshop on “Quaternary Earth System Processes and Geohazards in South India” begins at NCESS

A workshop on “Quaternary Earth System Processes and Geohazards in South India” began at the National Center for Earth Science Studies (NCESS), Thiruvananthapuram on Monday. The event was organized as a prelude to the International Union for Quaternary Research (INQUA) conference planned in Lucknow in 2027. The workshop brings together scientists and researchers to discuss Quaternary climate and environmental changes, sedimentary processes, landscape evolution, coastal changes and geohazards in southern India, NCESS said.

Rasik Ravindra, former Director, National Center for Polar and Ocean Research (NCPOR), Goa, inaugurated the workshop.

Pradeep Srivastava, Department of Earth Sciences, IIT Roorkee, NCESS Director NV Chalapathi Rao, Binita Phartiyal, Scientist, Birbal Sahni Institute of Paleosciences (BSIP), Lucknow and Secretary General, INQUA India 2027, and JK Tomson, Head, Solid Earth Research Group, in NCESS, also attended the function at NCESS, NCESS.
