Government employees play a key role in the development of the state, says the spokesperson

Government employees play a key role in the overall development of the state by implementing social programs and policies through various ministries, Karnataka Legislative Assembly Speaker GS Patil said on Monday.

Inaugurating a one-day divisional conference of retired government employees of Belagavi (Kittur Karnataka) division at Patil Puttappa Sabhabhavana of Karnatak Vidyavardhak Sangha in Dharwad on Monday, Mr. Patil said that government employees are responsible for translating the laws and policies set by the elected representatives into practice.

He lauded government employees, especially those in the health ministry, for their service during the COVID-19 pandemic, implementing the directives of the Union and state governments despite the threat to their lives.

Karnataka State Government Retired Employees Association President L. Bhairappa urged the government to ensure that pensioners receive their pension benefits without delay.

Employees who have served for 30 to 40 years deserved early retirement benefits, regular pension revisions, pension facilities at par with central government pensioners and adequate medical support, he said. The government should remain responsive to the social and health needs of retired employees, he added.

NH Konaraddi, MLA, President of All India Primary Teachers Federation Basavaraj Gurikar, writer Venkatesh Machakanur and former Director of Education Siddarama Manahalli also spoke. The conference was attended by several elected representatives, former legislators, former MPs and association officials.

Dignitaries from various fields and retired employees who have made significant contributions to society were felicitated on the occasion.

SB Patil Nalavadi, president of the association’s Dharwad district unit, welcomed the gathering. General Secretary Guru Tigadi conducted the program while Treasurer AB Chanaveeragouda delivered the vote of thanks.

Officials and association members from Vijayapura, Bagalkot, Belagavi, Uttara Kannada, Gadag, Dharwad and Haveri districts attended the conference.
