Two held with 11 tribes of red sanders near Seethampeta in Kadapa district

Police officials on Monday (September 28, 2026) arrested two persons on charges of smuggling red sanders in a forest area near Seethampeta village in Veeraballi mandal of Kadapa district. Eleven logs of red sandalwood, a four-wheeler and three mobile phones were recovered from them.

Acting on a tip-off, a team led by Circle Inspector Sundupalli Suresh Reddy and Sub-Inspector Veeraballi Sushmitha conducted special surveillance against red sandalwood smuggling and other illegal activities, police said.

The team found two laborers who were allegedly illegally transporting red sandalwood logs in the forest area. A criminal complaint was filed against the accused. They were brought to court and taken into custody.

Police have warned that strict legal action will be taken against those involved in red sandalwood smuggling and illegal transportation of forest resources. They urged the public to report any suspicious activities in forest areas to them immediately.

Shelke Superintendent of Police Nachiket Vishwanath praised the team for arresting the two and seizing the red sandalwood logs.
