Members of various Muslim organizations on Monday evening took a protest meeting in Belagavi and complained against the alleged desecration of the saints in the village of Santi Bastawad in the district.
Demonstrators complained that some visitors to the mosque found that some copies of the Holy Qur’an and other books in the building were missing. Later they were found half -burned in the field in the village. They were looking for a quick investigation and arresting the accused.
The tension prevailed in the village for some time on Monday.
Police Commissioner IADA Martin Marbaniang and other higher officers visited the place. Some police vans are now located in the village.
