The decision on ministerial representation of women will be discussed in Delhi

Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Sunday said the discussion on filling the remaining two berths in the cabinet will take place during his visit to Delhi. “The issue of accommodating a woman in the cabinet will be discussed in Delhi,” he told reporters here.

The Chief Minister is heading to Delhi to attend the Congress Working Committee meeting scheduled for Tuesday to discuss the Election Commission of India issue and the ongoing special intensive revision exercise across the country. A meeting of opposition leaders has also been called to discuss the same, Mr. Shivakumar said.

Sources said party leaders in the state are yet to reach a consensus on who will be the woman legislator to be inducted into the cabinet, while some names are doing the rounds. “Unless the leaders reach a consensus, the cabinet expansion will not be possible,” the sources said.

When asked about the appointment of chairmen of boards and corporations, he said the decision had already been taken in Delhi. “Senior legislators would be accommodated and party workers would be appointed later,” he said.

Incidentally, Congress General Secretary in-charge of Karnataka Randeep Singh Surjewala held discussions with the Chief Minister and prospective legislators last week before finalizing the names.
