3-Day Bank Strike Postponed: Check Full UFBU Statement; decision on Saturdays as holidays and more | Today’s news

The three-day bank strike has been postponed, the United Forum of Banking Unions (UFBU) confirmed in a statement. The bank strike was supposed to take place between September 28 and 30.

“A meeting was held between IBA and UFBU on September 27 at 9.30 pm. After due deliberation, it was decided that: a high-level committee of IBA and UFBU will be formed immediately to discuss the issue of declaring the remaining Saturdays as holidays,” ANI quoted UFBU as saying.

“This committee will explore all possible alternatives, consult with all stakeholders and develop a solution acceptable to all stakeholders and, more importantly, customers,” UFBU wrote in a statement.

“Regarding the PLI scheme for officers in Grade IV and above, discussions may commence with the IBA to suggest modifications to the scheme to the government to respond to the comments of the unions/associations,” he further wrote.

“The remaining matters listed in the minutes of March 8, 2024 will be discussed between the parties for an expedited resolution,” he added.

“In view of the above, the UFBU has agreed that the proposed agitation programs and strike actions will be postponed,” he concluded.
