Virat Kohli broke Sachin Tendulkar’s record for most ODI centuries against a team
NEW DELHI: The Thiruvananthapuram crowd got exactly what they were waiting for. Virat Kohli put up another special show to smash his 55th ODI century as India chased down West Indies’ 295/7.Kohli reached his hundred in just 74 balls and a brilliant attacking stroke made the chase look comfortable.
Kohli takes the lead
West Indies posted a challenging 295/7 in their 50 overs, but Kohli quickly took control of the chase.He was regularly finding boundaries and putting the West Indies bowlers under pressure. He looked completely in control and kept the Indian chase at a brisk pace.The big moment came when Gudakesh Motie bowled a flighty delivery. Kohli came down the pitch and hit it long on for a six to complete his century.He immediately removed his helmet and raised his bat as the crowd erupted.
55th ODI century for Kohli
The century was Kohli’s 55th in ODI cricket. It was also his 86th international hundred.His international centuries include 30 in Tests, 55 in ODIs and one in T20Is.Kohli has now scored 55 ODI hundreds, extending his lead among active players in the format.
Joint most ODI centuries against the team
Kohli’s century also put him alongside Sachin Tendulkar in another interesting record.He now has 10 ODI centuries against West Indies. This is the largest joint match against a single team in ODI cricket.Kohli also has 10 ODI centuries against Sri Lanka.The list includes:
