Zakir Malik, 49, Gingal Village resident in the Uri District area in the district of Baramulla and his Sedminsk family, returned back from Gantamully on Saturday to their house. “We left our village after Friday (May 9, 2025) caused damage to houses and shops in the morning. I heard of a ceasefire on my mobile phone. We decided to move back to feed the cattle and return to the field,” Malik said.

According to official data, more than 100 families left the Baramully part of Uri from Baramully for intensive shelling in Pakistan in the previous two days. More than 55 displaced families continue to stay in temporary sides at the Sheeri Rehabilitation Center and the Uri Government College. “We hope to return on Sunday. We thank both countries for ending violence. The government must play its role to help those who have lost their houses while shelling,” said Fahmida Bi, Uri.
Poonch and Rajouri districts suffered most in the recent conflict between India and Pakistan. About 20 civilians lost their lives in these two districts due to shelling by Pakistani units.
Meanwhile, the political parties of Jamm and Kashmir welcomed India and Pakistan for achieving an agreement on the ceasefire. Welcome, Chief Minister J&K Omar Abdullah, said, “I welcome the Indian spokesperson from the depths of my heart about the recovery of the ceasefire between India and Pakistan. Better late than never, but if this ceasefire came two or three days earlier, perhaps the bloodshed we saw and theft we saw.”
Mr. Abdullah stressed that considerable devastation was caused by cross -border shelling and attacks in Jammu, Poonch, Rajouri, Tangdhar and other border areas. “We also hope that we can also restore flights,” added Mr. Abdullah.
Patron of the National Conference (NC) Farooq Abdullah said that the primary responsibility for bridging the deficit of trust “lies with Islamabad, who must deal with concerns about the new Delhi on cross -border terrorism”.

The President of the J&K Peoples Sajad Lone described the notice of the ceasefire as a welcome step. “There is a feeling of relief all around. The inhabitants of the border areas in J&K had a tormenting time. I hope they are able to continue their lives and hope that we as a society will come to help and help them rebuild their homes,” Lone said.
