ECI’s ‘unanimous clarification’ on SIR dispels all misconceptions: says AP CM Naidu

Election results reflect the people’s mandate and in a strong democracy, leadership also means accepting victory and defeat with grace and humility, observes Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said that the unanimous clarification issued by the Election Commission, headed by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, along with Election Commissioners SS Sandhu and Vivek Joshi, on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls has reaffirmed the integrity and credibility of India’s constitutional bodies and all misconceptions.

Decisions regarding the SIR were taken collectively and in strict adherence to established institutional protocols, Mr. Naidu noted in a social media post on Saturday (September 26, 2026).

Mr Naidu noted that attempts to undermine global confidence in India’s democratic framework or electoral processes for short-term political gain were “deeply unfortunate”.

“Election results reflect the mandate of the people and in a strong democracy, leadership also means accepting both victory and defeat with grace and humility,” he commented, adding that it is the collective responsibility of leaders across party lines to maintain public confidence in India’s democratic process.
