Kerala Chief Minister Misleading People on Munambam Issue, CPI(M) Claims

Chief Minister VD Satheesan was trying to mislead the people of the state with his statements on the Munambam Waqf issue, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)) Ernakulam district secretariat alleged on Tuesday.

The details of the holding have been uploaded on the site in accordance with the Waqf Amendment Act 2025. Although the uploading of the information has nothing to do with the proceedings in court, Mr. Satheesan has tried to mislead people and complicate the matter. All legal questions regarding the holding were within the discretion of the Waqf Tribunal and the courts, the statement pointed out.

The Chief Minister, who had earlier offered to resolve the issue within 10 minutes, should explore options for a solution rather than complicating it. The government should try to find a permanent solution to the problem through legal means, she demanded.

Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Shone George demanded that the Kerala Waqf Board, set up by the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government, be dissolved. The board was constituted without following the provisions of the Waqf (Amendment) Act relating to the members of the board. The BJP legislators will approach the Chief Minister to press the demand, he said.

The BJP has also approached the Union Minister for Minority Affairs to remove the data that was uploaded on the portal. The board released the information without following guidelines, he claimed.
