Telangana Police provide security to K. Nageshwar amid Jana Sen remarks controversy

The Telangana Police provided security to political analyst and professor K. Nageshwar after he got embroiled in a political row over alleged defamatory remarks against the Jana Sena Party (JSP) during a televised debate.

As speculation intensified about the possibility of Andhra Pradesh police intervention, the Telangana police deployed personal security for Mr. Nageshwar at his request and stationed local police personnel outside his residence in Tolichowki.

However, officials did not confirm reports circulating on Tuesday that a large contingent of Andhra Pradesh police had arrived in Hyderabad to arrest him.

Earlier in the day, Mr. Nageshwar met the DGP and sought protection for himself and his family. He also urged the police to take appropriate action on the threats allegedly issued to him on social media.

Mr. Nageshwar said he had not received any notice from the Andhra Pradesh police in connection with the case.

He said he had withdrawn his comments and claimed the Jana Sena Party had accepted the withdrawal, calling the matter closed.
