With the Amayizhanjan Canal in the capital, the garbage, preventing the flow, the Kerala State for Human Rights (SHRC) ordered the main irrigation department to take immediate steps to remove waste and relieve the flow.
Judge Alexander Thomas, Chairman of the Commission, issued the direction of the Executive Engineer of the Department. He was also looking for an explanation from the secretary Thiruvananthapuram Corporation on those who are responsible for ejecting waste in the channel after being cleaned.
The Commission stated that the Secretary’s Report should also include the reasons for stopping the activities of the night team assigned to check whether the waste is fired into the channel. The vehicle should be provided for the effective functioning of the night team. The secretary should also provide specific solutions to avoid ejecting the garbage into the channel. The direction of Shrc came after media reports about the threat of floods in Thampanoor due to garbage dumping in the channel.
His case
In the case of Suo Mot, the event is registered by the Commission based on media reports that Thampanoor is at risk of flooding before the monsoon due to garbage dumping. The company launched a project of intensive cleaning on the Amayizhanjan Canal after a hygienic worker N. Joy died after he fell into the canal during his cleaning. The civic body has also deployed special units and night units to check the waste of waste into the canal. Several fines were imposed and several vehicles were confiscated from those who were found to interpret waste.
More than 500 work -related work, improvement and improving the depth of channels and runoffs are currently taking place in Thiruvananthapuram as part of the monsoon cleaning of the company, irrigation department and public works department. While the company’s hygienists clean a large number of drains, the smaller and main irrigation department is engaged in the cleaning of most channels.
