The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave warning in 10 districts on Wednesday.
According to the latest IMD bulletin, a red alert (severe heat wave) has been issued for conditions very likely to prevail in isolated areas of Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem and Khammam districts. Orange alert (heat wave) has been issued for Adilabad, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal and Nizamabad districts.
Besides, warm night conditions are very likely to prevail in isolated pockets in Adilabad, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam and Nalgonda districts.
Meanwhile, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are very likely at isolated places in Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Surbuja Warang, Mahabad, Mahuyapet, Siddipet Districts, Yadadri Bhuvangiri, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Medchal Malkajgiri, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnoool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet and Jogulamba Gadwal.
Hyderabad and surrounding areas will see partly cloudy skies for the next 24 hours. “Light rain or thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds are very likely to occur in parts of the city in the evening or night. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 41°C and 29°C,” the bulletin said.
12 districts record maximum temperatures above 46 °C
Meanwhile, data from the Telangana Development Planning Society showed that 12 districts recorded temperatures above 46°C on Monday, May 25.
Vemulapalle in Nalgonda was the hottest place in the state, recording a maximum temperature of 46.5°C. It was followed by 46.4C in Pinapaka (Bhadradri Kothagudem), Dharmapuri (Jagtial), Dahegaon (Kumaram Bheem Asifabad), Aloor (Nizamabad), Garidepalle (Suryapet), 46.3C in Enkur (Khammam), Kannepalli (Mancherial), Chiedrum6Anthergo (Karimnagar), 46.1C Seerole (Mahabubabad). Wazeed (Mulugu) and 46C in Nirmal Rural (Nirmal).
The districts that recorded temperatures between 45°C and 46°C were Mahadevpur (Jajashankar Bhupalpally) and Madnur (Kamareddy) at 45.8°C, Sangem (Warangal) at 45.7°C, Ichoda (Adilabad) and Boinpalle (Rajanna Sircilla) at 45.25°C.
In Hyderabad and its surrounding urban belt, Dundigal Gandimaisamma in Medchal Malkajgiri recorded 43.3°C followed by 42.6°C in Chevelle (Rangareddy) and 42.5°C in Charminar (Hyderabad).
