As a result of tribes occupying forest in Nagarahole looking for an immediate settlement of its rights under the Forest Rights Act, the Minister of Forests, Ecology and the Environment, Eshwar B. Khandre, looking for local officials in the ground situation.
The reaction of the Minister stems from an increase in tensions in Tiger Reserve, where the scores of tribes remained near Karadicall, which resulted in stand-off between the forest separation and them.
Although the forest department claimed that applications under the Forest Rights Act must be removed by the Forest Rights Committee or Gram Sabha, the tribes claimed that the authorities were sitting in their applications, although they provided all documents.
Mr. Khandre said that the report, including court orders and reports on the action of resettlement or the recognition of ordinary rights, should be provided in two days.
Sources said the tribes alternate and remain in the forest, despite the prosb of the authorities to disperse.
Representatives of the tribes argued that they only promote their rights because they are the original inhabitants of forests and FRA only confirms their existing rights and did not sell new rights.
