Who is Robert Prestast?
Cardinal Robert Prevost, an American missionary who devoted most of his life to serve in Peru, currently leads the Vatican influential office of the bishops.
Robert Francis Prevost was born on September 14, 1955 in Chicago in Illinois and grew up in Dolton, a suburb south of the city, as the youngest of the three sons. His father, Louis Prestost, was Lieutenant the Navy during World War II and later served as a superintendent school in district 169.
Missionary
In 1977, the prevost joined the novitiate of the Order of Saint Augustine (OSA) in the province of the Virgin Mary of Good Council in St. Louis. August 29, 1981, made solemn promises and watched theological studies in the Catholic Theological Union in Chicago. After his consecration, he gave a large part of his missionary work in Peru, where he later worked as an archbishop of Chiclayo.
