Experts call for harmony in temple management and religious practices

In the fifth lecture on ‘Vaishnava Agama’, experts emphasized the importance of harmonious functioning of religious rituals and sacred activities along with the overall management of the temple to ensure its long-term development. The lecture was held at the regional Indira Gandhi National Center for Arts (IGNCA).

The Tirupati Regional Center of IGNCA, functioning under the Union Ministry of Culture, is organizing a series of lectures to create awareness and a deeper understanding of the temple-related ecosystem among the general public.

T. Vijaya Raghavacharyulu, former professor at the National Sanskrit University (NSU), Tirupati, in his address on “Cultural Aspects of Temple Administration in the Vaishnava Agamic Tradition”, explained the importance of traditional administrative systems, ritual discipline, temple customs and the role of the Agamas in preserving the spiritual and cultural identity of temples.

In this context, he explained that temple management should run parallel to religious practices without any interference and at the same time ensure community participation in undisturbed growth and development.

K. Purushottamacharyulu, Associate Professor in the Department of Krishna Yajurveda at Sri Venkateswara Vedic University (SVVU), emphasized the role of Vaishnava agamic traditions in protecting the sanctity of temples.

IGNCA Regional Director KTV Raghavan in his welcome address said that the lecture series was aimed at promoting public awareness about temple culture.
