Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka DK Shivakumar on Wednesday met with Minister of Road Transport and Motorway Nitin Gadkari and discussed projects concerning the cities of Bengalur and Karnataka.
Mr. Shivakumar, who also holds the Bengalur development portfolio, discussed the “Ropeway Buses” project and urged Mr. Gadkari to explore its feasibility as a sustainable possibility of urban transport, the press release said.
Mr. Shivakumar urged Mr. Gadkati to take the work related to the improvement of the road between Benagalur and Canacapora in six lanes and the completion of 7 km of the road connecting the toll square in Kaggalipura on the outskirts of the city.
He asked for help from the Center for Compensation to Families whose land was obtained for the satellite urban circular road (strr) connecting Dobbspet, Magadi, Ramanagar and Harohali. Although the work on Strr began in 2009, the compensation was not paid, Mr. Shivakumar said in the petition to Mr. Gadkari.
He discussed the proposed 60 km of the Tunnel Road project, which would join the corridors to the east-west and the north-south in Bengalur. The cost of the tunnel project was estimated at 30,000 GBP Crore. The cost of the tunnel per km was estimated at 500 GBP Crore. The project was designed to alleviate traffic overload.
The tunnel project would join NH 7 and NH 4 and alleviate traffic jams in Bengalur. The project would start with the center and Karnataka. Mr. Shivakumar urged the Minister of the Union to provide funds to the Indian National Motorway office (Nhai) to carry out the project.
Mr. Shivakumar also submitted proposals for increased courses in Bengalur.
Mr. Shivakumar also led a discussion with the Minister for Housing of the Union and urban affairs Manohar Lal Khattar on Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd., which carries out the Metro Rail project in the city. The government submitted a proposal that sought to check the center for the metro line 44.65 km according to Phase 3, while DRP is in preparation for another 37 km.
Representatives of the main minister also spoke with Mr. Khattar about waste management in the city. At the meeting were present administrative official Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Tushar Girinath, BBMP Commissioner M. Maleshwara Rao and other civil servants.
