The KM-1 capture operation is nearing its final stage; Kumki elephants reach Aralam

The operation to appease and capture KM-1, the wild elephant that is causing fear in the human settlements of Aralam, has entered its final phase as the construction of a kraal at Muthanza in Wayanad has been completed and two kumki elephants have reached Aralam.

The kumki elephants, Vikram and Bharat, are from the Muthanga camp.

According to the forest department, a rapid response team and a special tracking team are keeping a close watch to find KM-1. Once the elephant is in the terrain suitable for surgery, a team of experts will begin chemical immobilization procedures.

The operation involves tranquilizing the elephant and moving it safely to the kraal.
