Hasanamba Temple will be opened on October 29

The Hassan district administration has started preparations for the Hasanamba festival, which will be held from October 29 to November 11, when the doors of the historic Hasanamba temple in Hassan will be thrown open to the public.

Millions of devotees from all over the state and beyond visit the temple for darshan during the festival as it is the only time of the year when the temple opens for devotees.

Excise Minister KM Shivalinge Gowda, who is also in-charge of Hassan district, briefed reporters on Saturday about the measures to be taken for the smooth running of the festival.

The minister said that the doors of the temple will open on October 29 at 12 noon. However, devotees were not allowed inside on the first day, which is reserved for rituals performed by designated priests. Devotees can visit the temple from October 30.

Mr. Shivalinge Gowda said that the administration has fixed a time between 10:30 AM and 12:30 PM every day for VIP visits. VIPs are required to inform the district administration about their visit well in advance so that the officials can make appropriate arrangements.

He said that apart from the Governor, Chief Minister, former Prime Ministers, Deputy Chief Minister, Chairman of the Legislative Council, Speaker, Home Minister and Chief Justice, all other visitors will have to travel to the temple in vehicles provided by the district administration.

The administration will also decorate prominent streets with lights and the police will make necessary arrangements to ensure the smooth running of the festival, he added.

MLA HP Swaroop, Deputy Commissioner KS Lathakumari, SP Shubhanwita and others were present at the press conference.
