KSEB Anti Power Theft Squad uncovers irregularities in Ernakulam district

The Anti Power Theft Squad (APTS) of the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) detected power theft worth ₹ 3.14 crore during inspections conducted in Ernakulam district.

A high voltage (HT) appliance in Marad with a claim of 50 kilowatt (kW) connected load was found to have an illegal connection of 260 kW. From this illegal connection, it was found that the customer bypassed the KSEB electricity meter with electricity to 145 shops.

In a separate case, APTS detected an excessive load of 850 kW on a connection in a business in the village of Kalamassery, which was authorized for only 450 kW. Power was supplied from this link to BSNL and Airtel cell towers.

Special drive in Ernakulam district was conducted by APTS unit, Kollam. Similar checks will continue throughout the state in the coming days, said the chief vigilance director of the KŠEB.
