KBC 18 contestants end in ₹12.5 million

Prashant, 35, successfully answered the questions that stood up to the above ₹12.5 lakh on a quiz show hosted by Amitabh Bachchan. But when ₹The question of 25 thousand came up, he decided not to risk the money he had already secured.

The question was: “Which landform marks the lowest elevation on Earth’s surface?”

The options were the shores of Baikal, the Sahara, the shores of the Dead Sea, and Death Valley. Unable to settle on one option for sure, Prashant decided to end the game ₹12.5 million.

There was an interesting twist. After leaving the game, he said he believed the shore of the Dead Sea was the answer. His guess after termination proved correct. The Indian Express reported that the shore of the Dead Sea is approximately 440 meters below sea level, making it the lowest elevation on Earth.

Why is the Dead Sea the lowest point on land?

The Dead Sea is an inland salt lake in the Middle East, bordered by Jordan to the east and the West Bank and Israel to the west and southwest. Its unusually low elevation is a result of its location in the Jordan Rift Valley.

The distinction is important because the shores of the Dead Sea are considered the lowest point on land. It is not the deepest point on Earth overall. This record belongs to Challenger Deep in the Mariana Trench, deep below the surface of the Pacific Ocean.

The level of the Dead Sea also changes over time, mainly due to evaporation, which means that its exact height can vary. However, its coastline remains the recognized lowest exposed land surface on Earth.

Prashant also recalls surviving a train accident

The KBC episode also revealed a more personal side to Prashant’s story. He told Bachchan about an accident he had when he was 19.

According to his account, he tried to get off a moving train when his leg got stuck between the train and the platform. A strong gust of wind then caused it to fall onto the railway track.

He realized he had landed on the same track the train was on and remembered watching the train pass overhead.

The experience traumatized him for a long time. Prashant said that surviving the incident changed his approach to life and encouraged him to make the most of the opportunities that came his way.

Bachchan subsequently warned viewers against attempting to alight from a moving train.

Prashant works with a semiconductor startup and hails from Noida, Uttar Pradesh. His performance at KBC eventually ended ₹12.5 lakh — and knowing that the answer he doubted was actually correct.
