The Minister of the Interior of the Union Govind Mohan on Tuesday (May 6, 2025) will examine the preparation for strengthening civil defense mechanisms that include false air sirens, civilian training to protect themselves in the case of “enemy attack” and cleaning of bunkers and trenches.
The Ministry of the Interior asked all states to perform a false exercise on Wednesday, given the “new and complex threats” that occurred with increasing tension with Pakistan after the terrorist attack of Pahalgam.
“The home secretary will review preparations for civil defense carried out in 244 districts. The main secretaries and civil defense manager from all over the country participate in a meeting through video conferences,” the source said.

“New and complex threats/challenges have appeared in the current geoopolitical scenario, so it would be reasonable that the optimal readiness of civil defense in States/UTS is always maintained,” said a letter from the General Fire Directorate, Civil Defense and Home Guards to States and UTS.
She said that the government decided to organize an exercise and civil defense exam across 244 categories of civil defense districts in the country of 7 May.
“The behavior of the exercise is planned to the level of the village. The aim of this exercise is to assess and strengthen the readiness of civil defense mechanisms across all states and territories of trade unions,” the letter said.
Participation
It states that the active participation of district controllers, various district authorities, civil defense guards, volunteers, domestic guards (active and backup volunteers), the National Cadet (NCC), the National Services (NSS), Nezru Kendra Sangathan (Nyks), university and school students in exercises.
“The aim of this exercise of civil defense is to assess the operational efficiency and operational coordination of various measures for civil defense,” he said.
After a terrorist attack on April 22 in Pahalgam South Kashmir, in which 26 people were killed, 26 people, mostly tourists were killed, there was tension in the relationships between India and Pakistan.
