The KTU Syndicate decides not to approve the proposal for Pro Vice-Chancellor

The Syndicate of APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU) on Thursday rejected Vice Chancellor (VC) Ciza Thomas’ recommendation to appoint a Professional Vice Chancellor (PV-C) and instead decided to seek legal advice on the appointment process.

The VC has reportedly placed a proposal on the agenda of the Syndicate meeting to appoint Biju, a retired professor of Mar Athanasius College of Engineering, Kothamangalam, as PV-C.

Members of the Syndicate pointed out that the university’s statutes required that a panel of candidates, not a single name, be submitted for appointment. As the VC was not ready to submit a panel of names, the Syndicate decided not to approve the recommendation.
