The Cannes Biennale of Contemporary Art, held in France last week alongside the 79th Cannes International Film Festival, featured an artist from Ottapalam, Kerala.
Anakha Nair, who is currently based in the US, was among the 40 artists from around the world who were selected to showcase their works at the event. She participated in the event for the third year in a row.
Ms. Nair presented her latest oil painting, Subhadra, which depicts a mythological female figure with expressive eyes, a serene smile and traditional ornaments. Behind her stands a majestic lion with a firm, watchful gaze, symbolizing strength and protection. The painting combines divinity, femininity and wildness in a single frame.
